Flora of the Mahale Mountains

  We have compiled a vernacular (Sitongwe) and Latin dictionary of plants in 
the Mahale Mountains, which contains more than 550 species. This dictionary is 
still far from comprehensive and we believe that at least 1,000 flowering 
plants are to be found within the boundary of the national park.
  The chimpanzees of Mahale have been confirmed to utilize 328 food items from 
198 plant species. These numbers are still increasing as research progresses. .
